FOSDEM '09 is a free and non-commercial event organized by the community, for the community. Its goal is to provide Free and Open Source developers a place to meet.

FOSDEM was a success again, not in small part thanks to the efforts of the army of volunteers who helped us run things smoothly. Thank you all for your enthousiasm and your energy. We couldn't have managed without you.

Working with you guys & gals was refreshing as always, and I hope we can do this again next year. But first, some hard needed rest!

Call for volunteers

Less than 2 weeks until FOSDEM, time flies indeed. This year we'll have over 200 lectures and more than 5000 geeks, which means quite a lot of work.

That's why we're calling on you, our visitors, to lend a hand during the event and help us in making this edition another success. Even if you only have a couple of spare hours in between talks, don't be shy to grab this chance to become part of the team that "makes it happen".

Donate to FOSDEM

FOSDEM is an event organized for the community by the community. As such, we think it is important to keep access to the event free.

The event is organized by volunteers who don't get paid and don't have commercial interests in the event. As one might imagine, however, the organization costs a lot of money and other resources.

The main characteristic of FOSDEM is that it is a non-commercial event. To keep it that way, we think the best way to fund the event is to ask for support from the open source community on a voluntary basis.

Donors Return

We're asking you to support the event by making a voluntary donation.
As a return to donors, various prizes will be given by us and our sponsors.

The draw works dynamically: for every multiplication of € 25, your chance to win one of the prizes below will increase (example: for € 100 you have four (4) times more chance to win than for € 25).

Note that you have to donate at least € 25 to participate in the draw.

Other gifts are given for donations depending on the amount of money, to each donor:

  • € 25 or more: a FOSDEM T-shirt! (different sizes available)
  • € 50 – € 99: a FOSDEM T-shirt + an O'Reilly pocket guide of your choice (*)
  • € 100 – € 149: a FOSDEM T-shirt + an O'Reilly book of your choice (*)
  • € 150 or more: a FOSDEM T-shirt + an O'Reilly book of your choice (*) + participation in a draw to get five additional O'Reilly books of your choice (2 winners of 5 books)

FOSDEM ASBL/VZW (the non-profit association) was founded in April 2002.
Donations are not tax deductible.
