Ben Adida began developing database-backed web sites in 1995. He
helped start ArsDigita, one of the first commercial open-source
companies focused on the development of custom collaborative web sites
based on the open-source ArsDigita Community System (ACS).
In late 1999, Ben founded the OpenACS project, the port of the ACS to a
fully open-source platform (PostgreSQL instead of Oracle). OpenACS
4.0 is currently in active development, with over 4000 downloads of
the most recent stable release (3.2.4), and 1800 registered users at the
OpenACS.org web site.
Ben is co-founder and CTO of OpenForce, a provider of training,
support, and managed hosting for complete open-source web platforms.
