Padre, the Perl IDE
Padre is the Perl Application Development and Refactoring Environment, a text editor with an oversized ego
According to our own poll and to the recent TPF survey only about half of the perl developers are using vi or emacs. The rest are using either an IDE or a simple text editor.
Padre, the Perl IDE has gaing about 2-4% "market share" since we started to develop it in 2008. This is surprisingly high given how much people are attached to their editors.
In this talk I am going to explain the philosophy behind Padre and show the features that will make it interesting for anyone writing Perl to at least give it a try.
We don't expect any vi or emacs use to swicth (immediately :) but as some people already put it, you will see why it is good to recommend it to people less familiar with the language.
