Andreas Zeller is a computer science professor at Saarland University, Saarbruecken, Germany, since 2001. Like all academics, he hates debugging. But instead of avoiding it, he seeks to automate debugging as much as possible. His first work, the DDD debugger, provided interactive visualization and exploration of data structures. His latest project, the AskIgor debugging server, automatically detects the statements that cause a given failure - simply by uploading the Linux executable.

Abstract

I'll talk about systematic debugging of Linux programs, showing present (interactive) and future (automatic) tools.
