Asura is a PhD Student (hopefully soon PhD candidate) in an interdisciplinary degree at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver. In addition to his doctoral research he also works as a data scientist at the ScholCommLab working on all things scholarly communication using citation analysis, altmetrics, and social media research. In his PhD, he is committed to reconceptualising the citation and other scholarly metrics in the face of a neoliberal academy. Concretely, he is using theories and frameworks from contemporary feminist philosophy and STS to revisit the traditional work conducted by bibliometricians and quantitative science studies.

With a background as an electronic engineer (gone rogue philosopher), he found himself in various Open Access and Open Science initiatives over the span of the last years and still continues to (attempt to) work on Open Source for science.
