Paul Barker

I'm a PhD student in the School of Electrical, Electronic and Systems Engineering at Loughborough University trying to improve the methods and equipment used for monitoring underwater noise and assessing possible adverse impacts on marine mammals. My work involves the development of a prototype noise monitoring device which runs embedded Linux.

Outside of my PhD studies I contribute to OpenEmbedded/Yocto Project and maintain opkg, a package manager for embedded Linux. I also run a student society at Loughborough University for hobbyist electronics and programming.
