FOSDEM 2023 dates: 4 & 5 February 2023
FOSDEM 2023 will take place on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of February 2023. We are aiming for a physical conference.
Update: We initially said "2022" which was a typo, of course. Sorry about that.
While there are still a lot of open questions, we are aiming for a physical FOSDEM 2023. It's both exciting and scary.
We will open Call for Devrooms etc soon. One note: With the online format, we were able to host more devrooms than ever. In the physical world, we will be constrained by the amount and size of the rooms ULB is able and willing to offer us. We will do our best to accommodate the maximum amount of content, but we will likely need to be more deliberate in selecting devrooms again.

An update about T-shirts and hoodies
We know that many of you are waiting on your FOSDEM T-shirt and hoodie. We finally have some news, but first we would like to apologize not only for not delivering your T-shirt in time, but also for not communicating or informing you of the status of your order.
Now onto the better news: it took a very long time for the order to arrive at our T-shirt supplier. We currently are investigating why it took so long and we didn't receive an update earlier, but the good news is that they are finally printing and will be shipped in the coming weeks.
We understand your frustration, and once again want to say sorry; this is not how it should have been handled and you have every right to be angry at us.
We will update you as soon as everything has been printed and the orders have shipped.

FOSDEM 2022 almost here!
FOSDEM 2022, our second fully virtual conference, is only several hours away. Now would be an excellent time to check our full schedule and mark down all talks that interest you! To get a preview of how everything looks and works, visit our FOSDEM 2022 Matrix space and look around! You can also visit our virtual conference floor to see all the talks and stands.
Talks and stands can be found on the schedule (look for the S building to find the stands). All of them will have several links to a live stream (called Video only), a live stream with the Q&A visible (called Video with Q&A) and a dedicated chatroom (called Join the conversation!). Stands will also have a link to visit their stand (called Visit the stand). Click on any of the links to see what is going on!
Chatting and Q&A is done with Matrix (other networks are available) via the FOSDEM 2022 Matrix space. Now is a very good time to test it out so you are sure that everything works during FOSDEM so you won't miss any of the fun!
Find more details on the practical information page and we hope to see you this weekend!

T-shirts and hoodies available!
An important part of our programme: the T-shirts and hoodies. They are (again) available, and contrary to normal practices, you won't have to stand in line to get them and they won't run out!
For the online edition, we partnered with a print-on-demand provider, which means that they won't run out at Saturday noon, as they normally do.
Two batches will be produced, one before FOSDEM and one after. The order cut-off dates are Sunday 16th January 2022 and Sunday 13th February 2022.
Visitors from the EU can go to treasure.fosdem.org, offering shipping to the EU.
If you want to ship to a destination outside of the EU, go to row.treasure.fosdem.org.
If you can't find your country in either of the shops, send an e-mail to treasure-at-fosdem-dot-org with how many hoodies/T-shirts you wish to order and the country and we can find out if it is possible.
Find more information on our T-shirts and hoodies page.

Presentations - Call for Participation
We now invite proposals for presentations.
FOSDEM offers open source and free software developers a place to meet, share ideas and collaborate. Renowned for being highly developer-oriented, the event brings together some 8000+ geeks from all over the world.
The twenty-second edition will take place online on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th February 2022 using the same underlying technology as the twenty-first edition. We will be running a variety of streams including Developer Rooms, Main Tracks and Lightning Talks.
Proposals
All proposals for presentations should be submitted using Pentabarf: https://fosdem.org/submit. If you already created an account in the system for a previous edition, please reuse it rather than re-registering. You can reset your password here: https://penta.fosdem.org/user/forgot_password
When making a proposal, please select the appropriate track.
If the topic fits into a Developer Room, then please refer to that room's call for papers, listed here and select that room as the "track".
Select Lightning Talks for a 15-minute Lightning Talk outside the developer rooms.
For the main tracks, please choose from the following topics: Community (Main Tracks), Real Time Communications (Main Tracks), Security (Main Tracks) or, alternatively, pick Other Topics (Main Tracks and Keynotes) for anything that doesn't fit into any of the other categorisations.
Main track presentations will be allocated slots of either 45 or 60 minutes, which includes some time for live Q&A after the video presentation. Please set the Duration field to one of those two values. Your pre-recording should then be between 5 and 10 minutes shorter than the duration you chose.
Deadlines
Submission deadlines vary according to the track.
For Developer Rooms, check the relevant Call for Papers. The final deadline for Main Tracks and Lightning Talks is Tuesday 28th December 2021. Accepted speakers will be notified by Tuesday 4th January 2022.
Please note that some programme committees may be reviewing proposals and making decisions on an ongoing basis before the published deadlines. This means that, for the most popular tracks, submitting early may increase your chance of acceptance as later submissions may be competing for fewer remaining places in the schedule, and particular themes for sections of the programme might already have been chosen based upon the range of submissions received earlier.
Requirements
Accepted speakers will need to prepare, record and upload their presentation during the first three weeks of January, no later than Friday 21st January. Guidance will be provided. Speakers will need to be in a place with a computer with a reliable internet connection and working camera and microphone when their presentation is scheduled so they can join a video room and take questions and engage in discussion after their pre-recorded presentation is played.
The conference language is English. All content must relate to Free and Open Source Software. By participating in the event you agree to the publication of your recordings, slides and other content provided under the same licence as all FOSDEM content (CC-BY).
All participation is subject to the FOSDEM Code of Conduct.
Questions or remarks? Contact us at devrooms@fosdem.org, lightningtalks@fosdem.org or program@fosdem.org.
All deadlines are at 23:59 UTC.

Accepted developer rooms
We are pleased to announce the developer rooms that will be organised at FOSDEM 2022.
Developer rooms are assigned to self-organising groups to work together on open source projects, to discuss topics relevant to a broader subset of the community, etc. The individual developer room organisers will issue their calls for participation in the next few days. The list below will be updated accordingly.
