I'm mainly a software engineer and I've been involved in exposing energy data from both consumer gateways (IoT) and smart meters for 4 years now, in the context of a Dutch utility (gas and electric). In this way, I'm aware of both the IoT landscape, and the utility landscape, and can tell how they are coming together. Furthermore I've been involved in projects at multiple Dutch utilities, and a German utility, so I have some practical experience with European differences, and have experienced first hand how different things are.
Apart from my daily work, I'm actively involved in the Dutch team of the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) to promote the philosophy of Free Software.
