Dr. Stefan Schimanski has been an active contributor to various OpenSource projects like KDE, LyX, linuxwacom among others. He holds diplomas in Mathematics and Computer Science. For his PhD thesis, he worked on type systems for polynomial time algorithms, a topic somewhere between programming language theory, formal software specification and mathematical logic. After the PhD, he went back to his Linux roots, working first as a Software Engineer at DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH and then becoming Head of the Linux Competence and Service Center at DFS, responsible for the system engineering of all operational Linux systems in the company.
