The speaker is a long time contributor and organizer in the Oslo Open Source community, organizing and helping with arrangements and conferences including the Nordic Perl Workshop 2006 & 2009, Go Open 2008 & 2009 and several hackathons and other activities.

He's been a user and contributor to multiple FLOSS projects and efforts since 1996, and has (aside from the Perl hacking) been especially interested in the social processes and organizational aspects of FLOSS communities. He strongly believes that the "FLOSS way" of developing software also can be used for creating schoolbooks.
