Axel Beckert

Axel Beckert studied computer science with minor biology at University of Saarland, Germany. He currently works at ETH Zurich as Unix system administrator where he maintains together with others mostly Debian GNU/Linux and FreeBSD servers including the Swiss primary Debian mirror, but also the two official porter machines for Debian GNU/kFreeBSD.

He initially grew up on SunOS, but also got his hands on Solaris, NetBSD, HP-UX, NeXTSTEP, OpenBSD, MirBSD, MacOS X, SCO Unix, many Linux distributions and probably some more Unices so far.

He contributes to Debian and FreeWRT as well as some non-operating-system open source projects like Blosxom, Conkeror or Amora.
