Beyond the historical group limit in FreeBSD
Historically FreeBSD has limited the number of groups per process (and hence per-user) to somewhere between 14 and 16 depending how you count. This leads to problems in a number of environments including the use of FreeBSD as an SMB server.
I will talk about those issues, bugs in the existing implementation, how we raised the limit to 1023 in 8.0, and what our future plans are for group support.
