Mario is a FOSS advocat known in the international FOSS community through his activities with FOSS Bridge, Freifunk and the LXDE Community. Mario, originally from Berlin, has lived in different countries like China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Australia. He was elected as a president of the LXDE Foundation in 2007. Besides supporting the LXDE development of project founder Hong Jen Yee aka PCMan he promotes the project and coordinates the work on the website and on different projects like the LXDE Translation Project. As part of his support of the free wireless freifunk community he maintains different freifunk websites like the wiki (http://wiki.freifunk.net) and the global free wireless newswire (http:global.freifunk.net). He is also the blogger behind the freifunk blog (http:blog.freifunk.net). During his consultant work for FOSS Bridge he advised companies such as Bull, OTRS, Gonicus and Nightlabs on internationalization strategies with a focus on Asia.
