The talk will present the way how the openSUSE distribution will get opened for contributions. What requirements need to be fulfilled by the software and the packager. The talk makes also a proposal about the used rules to identify software to become part of openSUSE Factory distribution.
As of now the openSUSE distribution gets build in the internal AutoBuild system of SUSE. We will talk about how we think the distribution should get created in future using the openSUSE build service.
Our goal is to make it transparent how we work and to make it easy to add all kind of contributions (from a small spelling fix up to complete new software) to the openSUSE distribution.
We want to create a platform where all kind contributors can work on the openSUSE distribution. Starting with developers working on SLE products, general openSUSE maintainers and also direct participation of open source projects.
We will show what does influence us, which resources we have and we will make a suggestion how we can decide which software will become part of the openSUSE Factory pool.
