The lightning talk will cover a basic metalink, what problem metalinks hope to solve and what support for them is already out there, showing the difference between Metalinks and some other solutions currently used.

About MetaLinks:

The Metalinks tools project is there to create tools to handle and generate Metalinks. Metalinks are XML mirror lists with verification information (and more). Currently the project has created a command line tool to generate these files and the Metalink standard is already supported by mutliple download managers (see http://metalinker.org/ for a full list). Metalinker.org is where the XML format specs and general information about Metalinks can be found (including news).
