Gilles Van Assche
Gilles Van Assche currently works in the Secure Microcontrollers Division of STMicroelectronics in Diegem, Belgium and teaches cryptography at the École Supérieure d'Informatique in Brussels, as well as at the Université Libre de Bruxelles ad interim. He is an active researcher in the field of cryptography and a co-designer of the Keccak algorithm, which was selected by NIST for the SHA-3 standard in 2012, after an intense five-year open competition. He is also a co-designer of Keccak derivatives Ketje, Keyak, KangarooTwelve and Kravatte, and of the new Xoodoo permutation used in Xoofff and Xoodyak. Finally, he is a maintainer of the open-source XKCP.
