After finishing my master in computer science engineering at ULB in 2015, I began a PhD program in electrical engineering as a teaching assistant at the same university, in the BEAMS-Embedded Electronics research unit, under the supervision of Dragomir Milojevic. My research focuses on developing an automated toolchain to partition large ICs into 3D ICs. Each block of the toolchain entails its own challenges: DEF/LEF file parsing, clustering, hypergraph extraction and partitioning, netlist generation, etc. Although this field still needs to heavily rely on proprietary software, we try to establish a free toolchain using open standards, allowing us to interface with closed-source solution but also with open ones such as qflow.
