1999 Windows as another target platform, with native build environment.

2000 Cygwin as build environment on Windows.

2002 Back to native Win32 build environment due to Cygwin being unstable.

2003 Interix as build environment on Windows.

2004 Home-brewn package installer, based on Bourne Shell and GNU make.

2005 First portage-patch to support Prefix installs.

2007 Gentoo Prefix project created by Fabian Groffen, as sub-project within Gentoo Linux.

2009 First release of Gentoo/Prefix based Development- and Runtime-Environment distro (non-public), with long term support (10+ years).

2014 Second release of Gentoo/Prefix based Development- and Runtime-Environment distro (non-public), with long term support (10+ years).
