Visualizing the Garbage Collection subsystem of the JVM is often a challenge. In this talk we discuss jfx-mem, a Free JavaFX tool for understanding how memory behaves in the Java heap. It features a discussion of the Java heap & collectors, JavaFX technology & the challenges & joys involved in working with a cross-functional team when building Free software.
