Javier Serrano was born in Castellón (Spain) in 1975. He holds a MSc in Physics and a MSc in Electronics Engineering. After his studies he
started working on electronics development for control systems of particle accelerators at CERN. He is currently the leader of the
Hardware and Timing section in CERN's Beam Controls group, where he promotes Open Hardware in all developments. He is also the leader of the
White Rabbit project, an extension to Ethernet whose aim is to guarantee tight synchronization and determinism in distributed real-time systems.
