Holger Levsen
Among other activities Holger Levsen is a Debian developer, a DebConf organizer, founder of the DebConf videoteam and of debian-community.org. In 2008 he will also become one of the co-founders of OLPC Europe and OLPC Germany (or however that will be called). He is located in Hamburg in northern Germany.
His first encounter with developing communities, the internet and using free software to improve the future through education date back to the early nineties, when he was part of a bulletin board project which managed to get a booth at CeBIT to present the status of the internet in Africa and its usefulness for young people. Quite some of the questions he heard there were similar to the ones surrounding the OLPC project today.
Many years later in 2005 he became involved in the Debian Edu / Skolelinux project, where he became a ftpmaster in early 2006 when the project decided to set up it's own instance of dak, the debian archive suite. In 2007 he steered the Debian Etch based release of Debian Edu 4.0r0 in July 2007 and the r1 pointrelease in December. Currently his main goal for Debian Edu is to release 100% within Debian Lenny "main" in the second half of 2008.
