My lightning talk will mainly cover the subject of network topology maps. I'll explain why the currently available solutions are insufficient in some cases and what are the advantages of drawing 3D topology maps. I'll also mention about NMS apps: Graphical UI vs. Web UI and the idea of using 3D topology maps to create a highly intuitive UI for NMS.
WiR3D is a SNMP network scanner which uses LANout to visualise the scanning results in a 3D scene. In the future more features will be added including GTK GUI, monitoring and alerting, so the program will become NMS. Here's the link to the short movie at YouTube showing WiR3D in action: http://youtube.com/watch?v=SOMvVxcihN8
