After submitting his doctoral dissertation on theoretical computer science in 2003, Marko spent 3 hours browsing job advertisement and found one by Innobase Oy, which was acquired by Oracle Corporation in October 2005. 11 years later, Marko became "Lead Developer InnoDB" at MariaDB Corporation.
