MariaDB supports a number of commands and interfaces that are closer to NoSQL than to SQL. These include:

• Storage Engine allows MariaDB to access data in multiple formats. In particular, see NoSQL Table types.
• Dynamic Columns allow one to store different sets of columns for each row in a table.
• JSON Functions
• The HANDLER statements give you direct access to reading rows from the storage engine.
• HandlerSocket gives you direct access to the InnoDB and Spider data.
