The Eclipse Foundation AISBL is now the largest Open Source Foundation in Europe, with our new home based in the heart of Brussels, Belgium. Establishing this new organization will accelerate the drive to digitization throughout the EU and provide a new engine for the development of innovative and open technologies across the continent and beyond. Eclipse Theia is an extensible platform to develop multi-language Cloud & Desktop IDEs with state-of-the-art web technologies. Managed under the ECD Tools Working Group, Eclipse Theia will soon launch Theia Blueprint, a pre-built version of Theia that can be installed natively for all major operating systems (Windows, MacOS and Linux).

Open VSX

Newly transitioned to Eclipse Foundation management, Open VSX is a vendor-neutral and publicly hosted open source alternative to the Microsoft Visual Studio Marketplace for VS Code extensions. It delivers on the industry’s need for a more flexible and open approach to VS Code extensions and marketplace technologies.

Interested in getting involved with Open VSX? Try:
  • Improving the code: pick an existing issue, or find things that can be improved in the frontend
  • Being an ambassador / advocate: encourage extension developers to publish to open-vsx.org
  • Providing integrations with existing tools / IDEs that support VS Code extensions

Eclipse IDE
