Alberto Bacchelli
I am assistant professor of Software Engineering at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), The Netherlands. My main research interest is data science applied to study and support software engineering.
My research has focused on doing data science on unstructured software data (i.e., human-written data generated by developers during software engineering, such as development emails) and the understanding and on improving of the peer review process (I have developed data mining techniques that are currently used daily by thousands of developers at Microsoft and I have laid the foundation for a research effort on code review). The techniques and methods I develop and use are at the intersection of Information Retrieval, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, Social Science, and Qualitative Research.
