Ian Pratt has moved back and forth between academia and industry, working as a member of senior faculty at the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory, a consultant, and also a founder of a couple of start-up companies. Ian led the work on the Xen Hypervisor when it began life as a University research project in 2001, and remains leader of the ever-growing Xen open source community today. In 2004 Ian co-founded XenSource Inc to help realize the commercial potential of Xen and drive a vision of "ubiquitous virtualization".
