Andrei started as a PHP contributor back in 1998 and became a core developer a couple of years later. Over the years he was release manager for PHP 4.2, designer of some major features of PHP 5, and the leader of the Unicode project which turned into PHP 6. He works as Chief Architect at Outspark Inc, where he is working on a technology platform for building an online playground with free video games and engaging communities.

In his free time he studies languages and linguistics, goes sailing, and travels to other countries.
