Simon Phipps
Simon is currently the director of standards and EU policy for the Open Source Initiative (OSI) and represents OSI at ETSI.
Previously he served on OSI's Board for a decade, twice as its president. Before that he ran one of the first OSPOs, at Sun Microsystems, where he supervised the release of Sun's whole portfolio under open source licenses. Before that we was a co-founder of the Java business at IBM. He has also worked at Unisys, ForgeRock and Wipro and despite a degree in electronic engineering is actually a lapsed software developer. He has been attending and speaking at FOSDEM since 2005.
He also volunteers at The Document Foundation (where has served twice as a board director and is again director-elect), and at the AlmaLinux OS Foundation where he is a board director. For further information check his info-hub.
