Razvan Deaconescu
I'm an Associate Professor at University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, Romania, the Computer Science and Engineering Department and Community Manager for the Unikraft Project (and Unikraft GmbH) (https://unikraft.org/) . I'm primarily interested in operating systems and security, with a penchant for teaching and mentoring.
I'm part of the open source and security community in the university and in Romania. I've helped develop the local open source community in the university, by founding a local NGO (ROSEdu: http://www.rosedu.org/), organizing extracurricular classes and projects dealing with open-source and by supporting students to take part in Google Summer of Code. I am involved in organizing workshops and summer schools around the Unikraft project (https://unikraft.org/community/hackathons/) and around practical security topics such as CTF (Capture the Flag) contests.
Apart from my experience in giving lectures and talks as an academic and researcher, I’m giving talks at workshops, summer schools and events both as an organizer and as a guest. In the larger open source community I’ve given talks at the Linux Foundation Member Summit 2021, Xen Summit 2022 and FOSDEM’23 (as part of the “Microkernel and Component-based OS” track which I also lead).
