Hugo Gruson
Hugo Gruson is the Lead Software Architect for data.org. His role is to provide technical support and infrastructure for project partners and ensure that project outputs match the gold standard in software development.
After his Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology developing tools to measure and analyze animal coloration, Hugo was looking to apply his technical skills for public good. As soon as the COVID-19 pandemic started, he moved to work as a Research Software Engineer in Epidemiology to assist researchers with modeling and code development. During the whole time, he has built a strong relationship with the rest of the R community, participated in developing numerous packages in the R open-source ecosystem, and contributed to the definition and solidification of the current gold standards for R packages.
