Call for volunteers

Less than 3 weeks until FOSDEM, how time flies... Yes, it's almost that time of the year again. With over 200 talks and more than 4000 geeks to cater to, this means a lot of work.

That's why we're calling on you, our beloved visitors, to lend a hand during the event and help us make this edition at least as good, and if possible even better, than the years before.

But what can I do, you might ask?

Wel, I'm glad you asked... Because, as it turns out, there's actually a lot you can do to help us steer things along the right path...

You can help us greet, help and inform your fellow visitors. Or you might want to assist the speakers and moderate the talks. Maybe help out with the donations, or use your linguistic skills and act as a translator for our foreign guests. Call some taxis, or perhaps even help guard our precious equipment

Anyway, if all of this sounds like a lot of fun then you're the man (or woman) we need... Get your mouse cursor over to your email client and mail volunteers@fosdem.org at once, and don't miss this most excellent opportunity to be a part of the team. Even if just for a few hours in between talks... Heck, we'll understand. If we didn't have to organize this event, we'd all be blogging it from the devrooms...

Call for volunteers

During the FOSDEM weekend we'll welcome several thousand visitors, requiring a lot of volunteers to make their visit as nice as we can. Are you interested in helping out?

"What can I do?", you might think. Well, a lot:

Greeting/helping visitors, handling donations, providing information, moderating talks, assist the speaker, guarding our precious equipment, setting up, translating, calling taxis, being praised for the wonderful event you're helping to organize, ... The list goes on. You will be assisted by a couple of experienced volunteers who know the ropes from previous editions.

So, if you'd like to help out during the weekend of 22-23-24 February, even for a few hours, please let us know at volunteers@fosdem.org.

Donate to FOSDEM

FOSDEM is an event organized for the community by the community. As such, we think it is important to keep access to the event free.

The event is organized by volunteers who don't get paid and don't have commercial interests in the event. As one might imagine, however, the organization costs a lot of money and other resources.

The main characteristic of FOSDEM is that it is a non-commercial event. To keep it that way, we think the best way to fund the event is to ask for support from the open source community on a voluntary basis.

Donors Return

We're asking you to support the event by making a voluntary donation.
As a return to donors, various prizes will be given by us and our sponsors.

The draw works dynamically: for every multiplication of € 25, your chance to win one of the prizes below will increase (example: for € 100 you have four (4) times more chance to win than for € 25).

Note that you have to donate at least € 25 to participate in the draw.
