http://www.fosdem.org/index/news/news_20050201_bis
(2005-02-01 21:31:56) Our partner O'Reilly is offering passes to its EurOSCON to FOSDEM donators
FOSDEM has always been organised by volunteers, with financial support from its visitors, as well as its various sponsors.

To say thank you for your continued support, our partner, O'Reilly is offering the opportunity for two people to win passes to O'Reilly's EUROSCON (taking place in Europe in Autumn 2005).

[Fosdem Event] Buffet sponsoring
http://www.fosdem.org/index/news/news_20050201
(2005-02-01 15:14:43) We have 2 new sponsors that help us for the FOSDEM buffet. Check who they are and how you can attend this fantastic FOSDEM buffet taking place on the saturday evening, with the speakers and the FOSDEM folks.
This year, we welcome PePLink as a FOSDEM sponsor. They have decided to support us in the cost of the saturday evening buffet. But they went one step further: each donator of 100 euros or more to the FOSDEM organisation may get a 50% reduction on their MANGA Plus.

You'll be able to discover the MANGA Plus product on the PePLink stand, where PePLink agreed to present only Open Source and Free Software.

The FOSDEM crew thanks PePLink for their support of the event!

On saturday evening, we will again organise a FOSDEM buffet. Although the number of attendants is limited, the cost of such a buffet is rising fast and it wouldn't have been possible without the financial support of PePLink and X-Tend who we take the opportunity to thank.

All donators of 50 euros or more are elligible to take part to the buffet. As the number of attendants is limited to 190, we'll apply the FAFS principle: first arrived first served.

If you make your donation by wire transfer and want to take part to the buffet, don't forget to send a mail to buffet-confirm@fosdem.org with subject BuffetReservation.

Thanks for your support.
http://www.fosdem.org/index/news/news_20050126
(2005-01-26 22:11:25) As the title explains it, there will be a key signing party and LPI exams at FOSDEM this year
Once again, FOSDEM is pleased to hold a key signing party organised by volunteers. You can check how to participate here.

[Visitors Info] Contest & Support
http://www.fosdem.org/index/news/news_20050123
(2005-01-23 21:21:19) 2005 edition was based on new rules, but one has been removed. On the other hand, check how to help FOSDEM ...
The rules for the contest are :

FOSDEM is a free (as a free beer) event ... but we need money to do it ! So we are asking people to make donations so that FOSDEM can happen. But we want to provide some "return" to our donators. Given that, if you donate this, you'll get that :

25 euros: t-shirt

50 euros: t-shirt + pocket guide + entrance to buffet if available

100 euros: t-shirt + O'Reilly book + entrance to buffet if available + 50% reduction on a Peplink product

150 euros: tshirt + O'Reilly book + participation in the draw to win 5 books of your choice from O'Reilly (2 winners of 5 books) + entrance to buffet if available.
[Fosdem Event] Call for Presence Developer Rooms and Booth
http://www.fosdem.org/index/news/callforpapers
(2004-08-31 07:52:58) Check out to know how your project can have a developer room and/or a booth at FOSDEM 2005
Dear Free and Open Source Developers,
Dear Free and Open Source Project Leaders,

The FOSDEM (Free and Open Source Developers' European Meeting) is a free and non-commercial event for the community and organized by the community. Its goal is to provide Free and Open Source developers and communities a place to meet to

get in touch with other developers and projects,

get informed about the latest developments in the Free and Open Source world,

attend to interesting talks and presentations held in large conference rooms by Free and Open Source project leaders and committers on various topics,

and to promote the development and the benefits of Free and Open Source solutions.

As for being a free event, participation and attendance is totally *free of charge* (although we thankfully accept donations and sponsorship).

To help the community, FOSDEM sets up 'DevRooms' (Developer Rooms) where teams can meet and discuss about their projects. It is also a place where a team can discuss, code (hacking sessions), publicly present latest directions, tutorials, news and decisions. The FOSDEM Team thinks it's very important that developers from around the world can meet 'in real life' and we believe projects can benefit from these meetings. Common facilities such as network/internet connectivity and beamers will be provided upon request (see below).

If your team wants to share experience and latest news or directions about your project, feel free to contact us to book a developer room.

We need to know

the name of the group (and maybe a short explanation about what your group/project is all about),

the (expected) attending audience,

whether you need a beamer,

and whether you need network (internet) connectivity.

We also need to know if you want the room for half a day or more, as we want to share the rooms between several teams if possible, so to provide that commodity to a largest possible number of projects.

We do need a schedule two months before the event takes place. That schedule is actually a list of speakers/subjects and public activities you're planning in the DevRoom. It will be printed in the FOSDEM folder that is handed out to visitors, printed on the DevRoom entrance and published on the website. As we receive requests from many projects, please understand that we shall only give DevRooms to those who will make talks (or similar activities) and who will send us their schedule.

Teams can also contact us to get a booth (stand). We need to know whether you will need a network connectivity, how many tables you need for your project, etc. You may use those to promote your project, sell stuff (posters, t-shirts, ...), hand out software, make demonstrations, or (almost) whatever comes to your mind as long it's not a purely commercial attitude. Booth is not a "cyber-café", so not to be used for Internet surfing : there is the hacker's room available for that.

The 5th FOSDEM edition will be February 26-27 2005 in Brussels (Belgium). More details about the event will be announced and published on the official FOSDEM website.

If you're interested in booking a DevRoom or a stand or just having more information, please send us an e-mail to devrooms@fosdem.org
