Libre Graphics Magazine: Bringing F/LOSS Designers Together, One Dead Tree at a Time

This talk discusses the activities and motivations of the Libre Graphics Magazine editorial team over the course of nearly a year of planning and publishing. It outlines how Libre Graphics Magazine is already and intends to become further of service to the F/LOSS design community (both user and developer). It includes samples of entirely F/LOSS design from issues 0, 1.1 and 1.2. Most importantly, it highlights to developers of F/LOSS the absolute excellence and motivation of their users.

This is one purpose of a Libre Graphics Magazine: to serve as a catalyst for discussion, to build a home for the users of Libre Graphics software, standards and methods. In such a magazine, we may unite all our previously disparate successes, all the successes which have, until now, stood alone as small examples, disjointed from the larger community. We have the opportunity to elevate the discourse around Libre Graphics as a professionally viable option, to raise previously unmentioned issues and to push forward the conception of just what Libre Graphics can produce.
